The right paper for your flyer
Uncoated wood-free paper
This paper is a very natural-looking type of paper that makes a vibrant impression. The surface is rough, has a high-quality feel and is pleasant to the touch. It works particularly well for text.
Uncoated paper grammages:
- 80 g/m²: Ideal for large flyers where weight plays a role.
- 120 g/m²: Offers greater stability and is suitable for high-quality information leaflets.
- 160 g/m²: Lends flyers a more solid feel so they feel higher in quality.
- 200 g/m²: For particularly sturdy flyers that need to leave a lasting impression.
- 250 g/m²: For particularly sturdy flyers that need to leave a lasting impression.
- 300 g/m²: Almost like cardboard, perfect for exclusive flyers or invitations.
Illustration printing paper
This paper’s smooth, coated surface ensures that colours appear vibrant and expressive while also reducing glare so viewers get a very authentic impression of the images. Unlike the other grammages in this category, the 300 g/m2 illustration printing paper has a glossy surface that lends the flyer a particularly elegant vibe.
Illustration printing paper grammages:
- 135 g/m²: Standard weight for flyers that offers good stability and a high-quality appearance.
- 170 g/m²: Offers additional strength and is suitable for more demanding print projects.
- 250 g/m²: For particularly sturdy flyers that are supposed to make a high-quality impression.
- 300 g/m² glossy: For robust, elegant, high-quality flyers with a glossy look
- 350 g/m²: Almost like cardboard, ideal for exclusive flyers or invitations.
Recycled paper
If you’d like to take an especially environmentally friendly approach to printing your flyers, this is the perfect choice as it’s made from 100 per cent recycled paper. This recycled paper also bears the Blue Angel environmental label as a result.
Recycled paper grammages:
- 80 g/m²: Lightweight and flexible, ideal for a large-scale campaign using environmentally friendly flyers.
- 160 g/m²: Offers greater stability and is suitable for sustainable, high-quality printed matter.
- 200 g/m²: For particularly sturdy flyers with an environmentally friendly look and feel.
- 300 g/m²: Almost like cardboard, perfect for exclusive, sustainable flyers or invitations.
Post-processing and finishing
There are several different processing and finishing options available for printing flyers. If certain parts of the flyer need to be torn off, a perforation is the perfect solution. Perforations are used for coupons or a company’s contact information, for example. Hole punches, on the other hand, help to ensure that the flyer can be filed away in a binder instead of being carelessly stuffed into a “random” drawer on the recipient’s desk. Rounded corners are not only elegant, but also help the flyer make a gentle, harmonious impression. Flyers with rounded corners stand out compared to traditional advertising media and even offer a practical advantage: the corners don’t wear down as easily. If you’d like to order flyers and have them attractively laminated, you can choose between glossy and matte surfaces or opt for to have a silk-touch finish applied to the surface to lend it a particularly premium feel.
Digital printing for small print runs and quick adjustments
Digital printing is a proven and efficient process for printing a diverse range of products, especially promotional flyers and leaflets. Exposing each individual page means that each successive print can be implemented differently. This flexibility makes it possible to send out customised promotional messages that incorporate variable print data such as personal addresses, individual promo codes, etc. Whether customers are looking for print runs large or small, industrial printing machines using a digital printing process can produce flyers for any purpose both quickly and cost-effectively, and customers benefit from faster delivery times as well. This approach also gives smaller companies or companies with a tighter marketing budget a chance to print affordable flyers that are precisely geared to their target audience.
What should you look out for when creating print data for your flyers?
Creating correct print data is crucial if you want to achieve the best possible print results. Key factors include:
- Colour space: Print data should be created in CMYK colour mode to avoid colour deviations.
- Resolution: A resolution of at least 300 dpi is recommended for smaller images; 150-200 dpi is sufficient for larger images.
- Bleed and safe zone: A bleed of 2 mm and an adequate safe zone prevent undesired borders and cut-off images.
- File format: PDF format is ideal for print data as it reliably transmits all the necessary information.
Choosing the right layout programme – like Adobe InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop – makes it easier to create professional print data. A final data check ensures that all requirements have been met. Click here for detailed information about creating print data.
