Do I have to register to be able to order from Flyerline?
Not necessarily. While you always have the option of placing your Flyerline order as a guest, there are lots of advantages that come with having a registered account. The order placement process is easier and more secure. A customer account gives you many different options. For example, it lets you view any orders you’ve already placed, check your order’s production status, or trigger a repeat order based on a past order.

I've forgotten my password. What should I do?
If you've forgotten your password, you have the option of requesting a new password by clicking on “Forgot password” in the login area. You will then receive an e-mail containing a unique system-generated password that you can use to log in and set a new password. Then you’ll need to log back in using the new password.
-
How quickly can Flyerline deliver?
Delivery times vary depending on the specific product and print run. We always make every effort to produce and deliver your printed matter as quickly as possible. We generally need 2-5 working days, depending on the product. When you place your order, we offer a “Rush” option for most products that generally ensures you expedited production and a turnaround time of one working day. The actual time required for production and the expected shipping date can always be found in our shop, right by the configured print product.
-
How should I deliver my print data?
Ideally, we recommend that you send us a print file with a resolution of 300 dpi in CMYK colour mode (colour profile: PSO Coated V3) and a bleed of 3 mm. The data formats that work best are .pdfx1, .pdfx3 and .pdfx4 as well as .tiff and .jpg for picture files. For detailed information, please refer to our “Data Delivery Tips”. You will find this document and the corresponding product data sheet both in our Download Centre and by the product in question.
-
How do I create a dieline?
To cut a freeform shape or even have your printed products die cut, we need a dieline that correctly defines the contour or die-cut shape.
This dieline must be a vector path indicated in a spot colour named Z-UCT-cut that is set to overprint (attribute: overprint). You can create this path in all commonly used layout or graphic design programs.
The dieline is not printed, but only serves as a placeholder to show our equipment where to cut.
If you need help creating a dieline, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to assist.
-
What does 4/0 or 4/4 mean?
4/0 colour means: printed in four colours on one side (full colour)
4/4 colour means: printed in four colours on both sides (full colour) -
Can I also send Office files to Flyerline?
Yes. But since Office files cannot be processed for professional printing, we first have to convert them into printable files. We charge a conversion fee of CHF 25 per file and page.
-
What is CMYK?
Cyan, magenta and yellow are the primary colours used for subtractive colour mixing. Black (K) is added because the primary colours are unable to produce a pure black. CMYK is the colour space required for printing. All masters are converted into CMYK files if they are not delivered in CMYK format.
-
My file is in RGB mode. Will that work too?
Yes. We convert the data into CMYK. This could result in slight variations in colour, especially in the case of extremely bright colours, since we do not know what colour was originally used and RGB documents look different on every screen. If you provide us with print data in RGB mode, we recommend selecting the “Proof” option.
-
What are Pantone colours?
Pantone is the name of an international, standardised colour matching system that uses number codes to define precise hues. Pantone colours are mixed using a palette of 14 basic colours and cannot be compared with or achieved in conventional four-colour process printing (CMYK = rasterization of the basic colours cyan, magenta, yellow, key/black). Pantone colour spectrum comprises more colours than in four-colour printing and each of the colours is clearly identified by a unique number code and can be matched precisely anywhere in the world.
Depending on which layout programme you use, you can drag Pantone colours from the colour library found under the programme’s colour menu. (In Adobe InDesign, for example, you’ll find it under Swatches -> New Colour Swatch -> Colour Type (Spot) -> Colour Mode (Pantone))
To create your own special spot colour, all you need to do is set the colour type to “Spot” and use the sliders to define the colour you want.
-
What is bleed?
The bleed is the area of the print data that extends beyond the normal edge. Bleeds are necessary because printing machines work within a certain tolerance range and the paper can shift slightly during printing. Please create print files that have a 3 mm bleed on each edge.
-
What is the difference between offset and digital printing?
Digital printing
Digital printing is special in that each individual page is exposed separately, meaning that each print in the sequence can be different. This is particularly interesting for use with variable datasets (e.g. personalised mailings) and small print runs.
Offset printing
The printing process traditionally used is called offset printing. For this process, printing plates are exposed and inserted into a printing press that creates precisely the same print on each sheet of paper at high speed.
-
What are the differences between uncoated papers; natural, offset & recycled?
Uncoated means the surface of the papers is not treated with synthetic materials. Our uncoated papers differ in the following properties:
Uncoated woodfree FSC® Mix Credit:
- from chlorine-free bleached pulp
- particularly absorbent paper
- makes colors appear soft
- very high whiteness (CIE 168)
Uncoated Offset paper FSC® Mix Credit:
- made from eucalyptus pulp
- smooth, homogeneous surface
- brilliant colors and good contrasts
- very high whiteness (CIE 171)
Recycled paper FSC® Mix Credit:
- made from 100% recycled fibers
- 100% recyclable
- produced with minimal environmental impact
- authentic color with less high whiteness (CIE 112)

Can I have Flyerline send me a PROOF?
Yes, you can. When you configure your printed product, you have the option of selecting a PROOF. This service is subject to a fee of CHF 5 plus VAT. The PROOF will then be sent to you by e-mail and only go to press once you have approved the order.
-
What is looked at during the data check?
As a Flyerline customer, you have the option of selecting a basic data check or a professional data check for each printed product you configure. The basic data check is free of charge. The professional data check is subject to a service fee of CHF 15 plus VAT.
Basic data check
The basic data check is always free; during this check, any print data you uploaded is checked according to the following criteria:
• correct data format in line with our specifications – preferably in .pdf, .jpg, .eps or .tiff format
• adequate resolution for a perfect print result
• correct document format incl. sufficient bleed
• review of tolerance ranges, especially to ensure that there is sufficient space between design elements and the edge of the product, the folded edge, creases, perforations and hole punches, etc.
• correct number of pages
• embedded fonts
• whether the data contains errors or is password protected
• automatic conversion of print data to CMYK if a different colour space has been defined. Of course, this excludes print data created for a print using spot colours (e.g. Pantone).
Professional data check
The professional data check is subject to charge (CHF 15); during this check, any print data you uploaded is checked according to the following criteria:
• any colour shifts that could arise through the conversion of print files to the CMYK colour space.
• correct overprint setting
• font sizes and styles
• correctly indicated dielines
• fold type and position for folded flyers
• correct sequence if page numbers are used
• clean transition in two-page layouts
• perforated lines correctly indicated
• correct positioning of hole punch markings for custom hole punching
• correct data for partial varnish application
• proof sent by e-mail to the customer for approval
If our data check reveals errors in the print data, you will be sent an e-mail notification with a description of the error(s). Your order will be put on hold until we receive corrected print data or you have granted us print approval. Error-free print data is sent directly into production; you are not notified of this unless you ordered a proof.
-
What does the “Freeform” option mean?
Freeform offers mean you have the option of selecting any shape or contour you want as long as it fits within the defined dimensions. They are cut out along the defined cut line. The cut line must be created in the print file. For more information, please refer to the data sheets of the respective product.
-
How will my order be sent and how high are the shipping fees?
Products are shipped quickly, reliably and safely through our logistic partners. Flyerline offers free shipping to Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany on orders of at least CHF 100.00 or EUR 100.00. We charge a CHF 20.00 or EUR 15.00 small order fee and handling on any orders of less than CHF 100.00 or EUR 100.00, respectively. You also have the option of having the items sent to different delivery addresses. For this service, please select “Split Dispatch” under “Production & Shipping Options” in the product configurator. Per address we charge 25 CHF / 15 EUR.
-
Can I have the graphics used changed within a single print run?
No, unfortunately that’s not possible. If you would like to have a larger print run with different graphics, please contact our Customer Centre. We would be happy to prepare a customised quote for you.
-
Can I submit a complaint if something went wrong with my products?
Quality and customer satisfaction are a vital part of our philosophy. We embrace and love quality and make an ongoing effort to improve the level of quality we deliver. Nevertheless, if you ever have any reason to file a complaint, we guarantee that we will investigate the matter carefully. Use the complaints form to send us an explanation of the problem. We ask that you please fill out the form completely and follow the instructions.
-
Will Flyerline sponsor my event?
Flyerline receives hundreds of sponsorship requests every year. Unfortunately, we are unable to say yes to every request for financial support or product donations that we receive. In order to maximise the benefits of our charitable activities, we plan long-term commitments and support a large number of social, cultural and athletic projects. No other activities are currently planned.
In an effort to cover at least some of those requests, we offer subsidised flyers in our online shop; these are called special flyers. You have the option of purchasing these flyers at a substantially reduced price and we, in exchange, will use the back of the flyers for advertising.
We also recommend subscribing to the Flyerline newsletter. That way you can find out about regular sales and take advantage of the special prices offered.
